The Best Disney Dooney & Bourke Bags: 2023 Edition

If you’ve been to Disney, or just out in public for that matter, you’ve probably seen a Disney Dooney & Bourke Bag. These bags are literally the absolutely perfect way to bring the magic of Disney wherever you go! Here at Mouse Merch Reviews, we love these bags because they are the perfect mix of Disney charm, yet they are so classy. These bags can be your travel companion whether you are going to the Animal Kingdom or the Chinese Theatre, whether you are going out to eat with the family or you are planning to go to be the Cinderella of the ball. 

And while these bags have an absolutely amazing Disney design on the outside, what we love is that they are high-quality on the inside as well. The Dooney guarantee means these bags are “with rigorous attention to detail and using only the highest quality materials and components available.” Dooney prides itself on being chic, classic, and timeless and the Disney bags have all these characteristics in spades. All the Bourke handbags in the Dooney & Bourke collection are made of beautiful leather and leather finishings. Likewise, each bag includes an all-over print design with a unique pattern placement of favorite Disney characters, places, and moments. 

Though the bags have some minor differences, you can expect most bags to have interior slip pockets that are incredibly convenient as well as at least one exterior pocket. Finally, with most bags having an adjustable leather shoulder strap, each beautifully crafted leather bag is sure to bring Disney magic, not only in design but in quality. When Ariel said "I don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad," she may have been talking about the Dooney & Bourke bags inspired by, well, Ariel! The newest addition to the Disney Dooney & Bourke bags is The Little Mermaid collection, which takes you under the sea and right into the 1989 movie! And while the movie may be part of the Disney renaissance, these bags look clean, fresh, and new. 

The bags show Ariel, Flounder, and Sebastian living life together in the ocean, which is a beautiful array of Light and dark blues. And while the highlight is the Ariel print, the white leather straps contrast with the ocean color quite well. The collection includes a wristlet wallet, a crossbody bag, and a tote bag. Both the wallet and crossbows bag feature multiple Ariels, but the Tote has one giant Ariel! With either choice, The Little Mermaid collection is sure to make a splash!

The New Disney Dooney: The Disney Rabbits Collection

Easter and of course bunnies! So just in time for the Spring, Disney and Dooney & Bourke have released their limited edition Disney Rabbits line. The Bags feature some of the most popular Disney bunnies including Pooh's friend Rabbit, the White Rabbit and March Hare from Alice in Wonderland, and Briar Rose's rabbit friends. 

These new Dooney bags come in three different types and break away from the traditional Dooney & Bourke purses by offering a backpack, which we especially love because it is the perfect bag for everyday life! Besides the backpack, the collection also includes a Dooney & Bourke satchel bag, and a Dooney & Bourke crossbody bag so you can find the perfect bag to meet your needs or get the entire collection! 

The New Disney Dooney: The "The Band Concert" Collection

Dooney & Bourke Disney bags are known for celebrating classical Disney and that is perhaps best seen in their newest collection. While everyone may know about Steamboat Willie, this bag takes its inspiration from the first Mickey Mouse short in color. The short, released in 1935, was called “The Band Concert” and is a critical darling. The film featured some of the Disney Company's favorites such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy, as well as some more obscure characters such as Clarabelle Cow and Peter Pig. 

The collection does a wonderful job of retelling the classic short by featuring all the same characters in their different roles. From Mickey Mouse conducting to Goofy on the trombone, this bag has musical flair and a vintage charm. The collection itself includes a wrist wallet, a crossbody bag, and a satchel bag. And it should be noted that users of this series have felt like they are both higher quality and larger than previous Dooney & Bourke bags. 

The Vintage Lover: The Fantasyland Collection

Speaking of vintage Disney, The Fantasyland collection will make you feel like you are back in 1955 when Fantasyland first opened along with the rest of Disneyland. Since Disneyland first opened, Fantasyland has been a favorite of park attendees and was possibly even Walt Disney’s personal favorite! And while the land saw an overhaul in 1983, the original artwork is some of the best and still makes you feel like you are living in the time of diners and greasers. 

It’s no surprise, then, that these bags are based on the original artwork. Their designs are based on iconic pieces of Fantasyland including the carrousel, the tea cups, iconic Disney logos, and the castle. It has beautiful pastel colors that put you right in the Disney parks. The Fantasyland collection includes a wristlet wallet, a satchel bag, and our personal favorite, the tote bag. The tote bag is particularly magical because it includes the “Partners Statue,” which reminds everyone that Disney all began with a mouse.  

The Animal Lover: The Disney Critters Collection

For the animal-loving, Disney fan in your life look no further than the Disney Critters Collection. Disney has long celebrated the animal kingdom, as evidenced by the fourth gate and by their films! Many of Disney’s movies feature an animal sidekick and even the spectacular six are all animals. So it’s no surprise that there is an entire collection of Disney critters. 

These bags feature one of our favorite Disney animals, Pluto, but that’s not the only critter on this bag! This collection includes a crossbody bag, a satchel bag, and a tote bag with too many different critters on them to name them all. One particularly unique character on this bag is Yzma as a cat. Despite A Emperor’s New Groove being a great movie, merchandise with its characters can be hard to find so it’s exciting to see! This collection includes a crossbody bag, a satchel bag, and a tote bag and would make the perfect first Disney Dooney for any animal lover!

The Bag that fits everything: Disney Sketch Weekender Bag

While Dooney & Bourke bags come in a variety of sizes and styles to fit every need, they currently only have one Weekender bag, which is from the Disney Sketch collection. And the bag is aptly named because it is HUGE and is ready for you to put EVERYTHING you need into it for your next trip to Walt Disney World. What we love about this bag though is that not only is it a large bag, but it is also an incredibly spacious bag that would be the perfect size to use as a travel-on!

Its print is another reason why it’s ready for a Walt Disney World weekend. The design is meant to make you feel like you are in the Magic Kingdom and it succeeds. Complete with Mickey Mouse Ears, Mickey Mouse balloons, Minnie Mouse, and Cinderella’s castle, you will feel like you going to the Magic Kingdom every time you use this bag, no matter your travel destination!

The Most Beautiful: The Aristocats Tote Bag

Every Dooney & Bourke Disney bag has a print worth celebrating, but none is more beautiful than the Aristocats Tote bag. The Aristocats leather Tote bag includes a portrait of the Aristocats family sitting on their couch in the living room and is bordered by pink roses. There’s no other way to put it, every time you look at this bag,  you feel like you are in the movie itself! The bag is stylistically just like the animation and yet includes incredible details throughout such as the shadows on the couch. Overall, this bag belongs in a museum as a piece of art or, better yet, on a private shelf in your closet to be admired!

The Budget option: The Disney Sketch Cosmetic Option

Dooney & Bourke Disney bags are perfect for a Disney fan, but let’s be honest,  they can be a bit price prohibitive. That’s why we wanted to include one more option on our best-of list that is more budget-friendly. We already mentioned the Disney Sketch Weekender (ironically, the most expensive on the list), but the cosmetic case is a great budget-friendly alternative. It has the same design as the Weekender, making you feel like you are at Disney World, just in a smaller package. Given the price, this would be the perfect first Dooney for the young Disney fan. It needs to be said, that users complained that the zipper can be tricky, but at a quarter of the price of many of the other options, it’s still a great way to bring the magic home with you!
